Pedro Sánchez And The Political Challenges For The PSOE

After very poor results in the European elections, the leader of the Spanish social democrats, A. Pérez Rubalcaba, knew that his short tenure had come to the end. His last service to the party was to call for a primary election to elect his successor, a method excluded by the party rules and absolutely discarded by past party leaders. In the end, the winner was Pedro Sánchez. Someone that only a few months ago was completely unknown in both public opinion terms and for many within the PSOE.
